Trading in Roblox lets you swap Limited and Limited U items with other players. It's one of the most popular activities for collectors — but it also has pitfalls worth knowing before you start.

What You Need to Trade

Before you can trade on Roblox you need:

  • Roblox Premium — trading is only available to Premium subscribers
  • Limited or Limited U items — only items marked Limited in the Avatar Shop can be traded. Regular catalog items cannot be traded.
  • The other person also needs Premium — both players must be Premium members

How to Send a Trade Request

From another player's profile:

  1. Go to the profile of the player you want to trade with
  2. Click the three dots (more options) button
  3. Click Trade Items
  4. The trade window will open

Building the trade offer:

  1. On the left side, select the items you're offering (your items)
  2. On the right side, select the items you want from them
  3. Optionally add Robux on either side to balance the trade value
  4. Review the Recent Average Price (RAP) shown for each item
  5. Click Send Trade

How to Accept or Decline a Trade

  1. Click the Trades icon (two arrows) in the left sidebar on roblox.com
  2. You'll see Inbound (trades sent to you) and Outbound (trades you've sent)
  3. Click on a trade to review it
  4. Click Accept or Decline

Trades expire automatically after a few days if not responded to.

How to Counter a Trade

If a trade offer isn't quite right, counter instead of declining:

  1. Open the trade in your Trades inbox
  2. Click Counter
  3. Modify the items or Robux amounts
  4. Click Send Counter

Understanding Trade Values

Roblox displays the Recent Average Price (RAP) — the average price an item sold for in recent trades. However RAP is a lagging indicator and doesn't always reflect current demand. The trading community uses external sites like Rolimons to check real market values before making significant trades.

How to Avoid Trade Scams

The "trust trade" scam: Someone asks you to send your items first, promising to send theirs after. They take your items and never trade back. Never send items outside the official trade system.

The item swap scam: The scammer quickly swaps a high-value item for a lower-value one right before you accept. Always read the full trade window carefully before clicking Accept.

The fake Robux scam: Someone claims they can give you Robux outside of a trade. Robux can only be received through official Roblox trades.

Rules to trade safely:
  • Only use Roblox's official trade system — never trade outside it
  • Check item values yourself on Rolimons before every trade
  • Never accept a trade that heavily favors the other person
  • Don't rush — scammers create urgency, legitimate traders will wait

Trading Tips for Beginners

  • Start with low-value items — practice the process before trading anything valuable
  • Understand that RAP and community value can differ significantly
  • Keep screenshots of notable trades for your own records
  • You can cancel an outbound trade before it's accepted: Trades → Outbound → Cancel

FAQs

Can you trade Robux directly?

Not standalone — Robux can only be added as part of an item trade.

Can you trade game passes?

No. Game passes cannot be traded.

What happens if I accept a bad trade?

Roblox does not reverse completed trades. Once accepted it's final. Report scammers to Roblox Support but item recovery is not guaranteed.

Do both players need Premium?

Yes. If either player doesn't have Premium the trade option won't appear.

Can I cancel a trade I sent?

Yes — go to Trades → Outbound, find the trade, and click Cancel before the other person accepts.
