Username Availability Checker
Got a username in mind? Find out instantly if it's still up for grabs on Roblox.
What This Tool Does
This checker tells you in real time whether the exact username you typed is currently available on Roblox. It hits Roblox's own validation system, so the answer matches what you'd see if you tried to register or change to that name yourself — no guessing, no outdated lists.
Perfect for when you already know what name you want — whether that's a new account, a rename, or just claiming a name before someone else does. It works on names from 3 to 20 characters using the Roblox-allowed characters: letters, numbers, and underscores.
How To Use It
- 1. Type a username. Anywhere from 3 to 20 characters, using only letters, numbers, and underscores.
- 2. Hit Check Availability. We send the name to Roblox and wait for their answer (usually under a second).
- 3. Read the result. Green means it's free to claim. Red means someone already has it — try a variation.
- 4. Grab it fast. If it's available, copy it and head to Roblox to register or change your username before someone else takes it.
Tips for Picking a Good Username
- • Keep it under 16 characters if you can — easier to remember and type
- • Try a memorable word + a number combo (e.g. NovaFox42) if your first pick is taken
- • Underscores can free up names that are otherwise taken (e.g. Cool_Name vs CoolName)
- • Avoid using your real name, age, or location — once it's public, it's public
- • Roblox charges 1,000 Robux to change a username, so it's worth picking one you can live with
- • If a name is taken, try swapping a vowel, adding an adjective, or pluralising
FAQs
Is this connected to my Roblox account?
No. The checker doesn't require you to log in and doesn't access your account in any way. It only asks Roblox whether a name is taken.
Why does it sometimes say "Could not check right now"?
Roblox occasionally rate-limits availability checks if too many are made in a short time. Wait a few seconds and try again.
A name shows available — does that mean I can definitely claim it?
In almost every case, yes. But because Roblox is live, someone could register the exact name in the few seconds between your check and your registration. If it's a name you really want, claim it immediately.
What about banned or moderated words?
Roblox blocks usernames containing inappropriate words. The checker uses Roblox's own validation, so a name flagged as "not allowed" will show up as unavailable.
