Creating a Roblox account takes less than 5 minutes. Here's exactly how to do it on any device.
Before You Start
You'll need:
- An email address (required for account recovery — parents should use their own email for kids' accounts)
- A username (this is public — don't use real names)
- A birth date (this controls what privacy settings apply automatically)
How to Create a Roblox Account on PC or Mac
- Go to roblox.com
- On the homepage, you'll see the signup form
- Enter your birth date (use your real date — it affects privacy settings)
- Enter a username — Roblox will tell you if it's taken
- Create a password (at least 8 characters)
- Click the Sign Up button
- Roblox may ask you to verify you're human — complete the puzzle
- You're in — Roblox will take you to your new home screen
Add an email after signup:
- Click the gear icon → Settings
- Click Account Info
- Add your email and verify it
This is important for account recovery.
How to Create a Roblox Account on iPhone or iPad
- Download the Roblox app from the App Store (it's free)
- Open the app

- Tap Sign Up
- Complete any verification if prompted

Choosing a Good Username
Your Roblox username is public and permanent (you can pay Robux to change it later, but it's easier to get it right from the start).
Good username tips:
- Don't use your real name
- Don't use your birth year
- Keep it under 20 characters
- Avoid personal info like your city or school
- Make it something you'll want to use for years

After You Sign Up
Once your account is created, do these three things:
1. Verify your email
Check your inbox for a verification email from Roblox and click the link.
2. Enable 2-Step Verification
Settings → Security → 2 Step Verification. This protects your account from being hacked.
3. Set up privacy settings (especially for kids)
Settings → Privacy. See our full parental controls guide for step-by-step setup.
Common Problems
"Username is already taken"
Add numbers or underscores. Try variations until you find one that works.
"Password doesn't meet requirements"
Must be at least 8 characters and not be your username.
"I didn't get the verification email"
Check your spam folder. If it's not there, go to Settings → Account Info and resend the verification.
"I can't remember my password"
Click Forgot Password on the login page. You'll need access to the email on the account.
