Roblox does not have a self-service account deletion button. To permanently delete an account you have to contact Roblox Support directly. Here's exactly how.

Can You Delete a Roblox Account?

Yes — but not through the settings menu. Roblox requires you to submit a deletion request through their support system. The process takes 1–30 days depending on their queue.

Before you delete: Consider whether you actually need to — there are less permanent options that might solve your problem (covered below).

Step-by-Step: How to Delete Your Roblox Account

  1. Go to roblox.com/support (or search “Roblox Support”)
  2. Log into the account you want to delete (or fill in the account details if you can't log in)
  3. Under Type of Help, select Account
  4. Under Issue, select Delete Account or Privacy Request
  5. In the description, write: “I would like to permanently delete my Roblox account and all associated data. Please confirm when this is complete.”
  6. Fill in your email address and username
  7. Submit the request

You'll receive a confirmation email. Roblox will process the deletion within 30 days as required by privacy law.

If You're a Parent Deleting a Child's Account

Use the same process above but note in your message:

  • That you are the parent or legal guardian
  • Your child's username and the email address on the account
  • That you want a permanent account deletion under COPPA (if your child is under 13)

COPPA requests are legally required to be processed and tend to be handled promptly.

What Happens When You Delete a Roblox Account

  • The account username is no longer accessible
  • All Robux in the account is forfeited — Roblox does not refund Robux on deletion
  • All items, game passes, and inventory are permanently lost
  • Any games you published are removed
  • The email address can be used to create a new account
This cannot be undone. Once deleted, your account and everything in it is gone permanently.

Alternatives to Deleting

If you're not 100% sure about permanent deletion, these options may solve your problem without losing everything:

Option 1: Just stop playing

You don't need to delete. Simply stop logging in. Roblox will send occasional reminder emails — you can unsubscribe from those in Settings → Notifications.

Option 2: Lock the account with parental controls

If you're a parent worried about your child's usage, use the parental controls to restrict access rather than deleting. You control the Parent PIN, so effectively no one can use the account without your permission. See our Parental Controls guide.

Option 3: Remove the payment method

If your concern is spending, go to Settings → Billing and remove any saved payment methods. No card means no purchases.

Option 4: Change the password and log out everywhere

If you want to prevent access temporarily:

  1. Change the password to something long and random
  2. Go to Settings → Security → Log out of all sessions
  3. Enable 2-Step Verification
  4. Don't share the new password

The account still exists but no one can access it.

Option 5: Request a data export first

Before deleting, you can request a copy of your account data under GDPR/CCPA rights. Go to roblox.com/support and request a Data Export before submitting your deletion request.

How Long Does Account Deletion Take?

Roblox processes deletion requests within 30 days under GDPR and CCPA requirements. Most requests are processed faster, but 30 days is the legal maximum.

You'll receive a confirmation email when the deletion is complete.

What If You Can't Log In to Submit the Request?

If you've forgotten your password:

  1. Go to roblox.com and click Forgot Password
  2. Enter the email address on the account
  3. Check your email for a reset link

If you've lost access to the email address too:

  1. Go to roblox.com/support without logging in
  2. Fill in the form with your username and whatever email you have access to
  3. Explain the situation — Roblox support can verify ownership through other means

FAQs

Does Roblox automatically delete inactive accounts?

Roblox does not publicly state that it deletes inactive accounts. Your account will remain even if you never log in again.

Will I get a refund for unused Robux?

No. Roblox does not refund Robux when an account is deleted. If you have significant Robux, spend it or consider whether deletion is really what you want.

Can I reuse my username after deleting?

Possibly — but Roblox may hold deleted usernames for a period before releasing them.

My child created an account without my permission — can I delete it?

Yes. As the parent, submit a COPPA deletion request through Roblox Support. Include your child's username and note that they are under 13 and created the account without parental consent.

How do I know the account has been deleted?

Roblox will send a confirmation email. You can also try searching the username — a deleted account's profile will no longer be accessible.
