Adding friends in Roblox keeps your contact list connected and lets you join each other's games easily. Here are all the ways to do it.

Method 1: Search by Username

The most direct way — if you know the exact username:

  1. Click the search bar at the top of roblox.com or the app
  2. Type the player's exact username
  3. Click their profile from the results
  4. Click the Add Friend button on their profile page

They'll receive a friend request notification. Once they accept, you're both on each other's friends list.

Method 2: From Inside a Game

If you meet someone in a game and want to add them:

  1. Open the Roblox menu while in-game (press Escape or tap the menu icon)
  2. Click Players or find the player's name in the player list
  3. Click their username
  4. Click Add Friend

Method 3: From Your Friends Page

  1. Go to roblox.com/friends
  2. Click Find Friends
  3. Search by username
  4. Send the request

Method 4: Through Mutual Friends

  1. Go to a friend's profile
  2. Click Friends on their profile
  3. Browse their friends list
  4. Click anyone's profile and send a friend request

How to Accept a Friend Request

  1. Click the friends icon (person with plus sign) in the top navigation bar
  2. Click Friend Requests
  3. Click Accept next to any pending requests

On mobile: tap the people icon at the bottom of the screen → Friend Requests.

Roblox also sends a notification to your account when someone adds you.

Managing Your Friends List

To remove a friend:

  1. Go to their profile
  2. Click the Friends button (it shows as filled/active when you're friends)
  3. Click Unfriend

They won't be notified that you unfriended them.

To block someone:

  1. Go to their profile
  2. Click the three dots menu
  3. Click Block User

Blocking removes them from your friends list and prevents any contact.

Friend Limits

Roblox allows a maximum of 200 friendsper account. If you or the other person is at the limit, friend requests can't be sent until someone is removed.

For Parents: Controlling Who Can Friend Your Child

  1. Settings → Privacy
  2. Under Who can friend me, choose:
    • Everyone — anyone can send a friend request
    • Friends of Friends — only people who share a mutual friend
    • No one — disables all incoming friend requests

Setting this to No onemeans your child can still add friends by sending requests, but strangers can't initiate contact.

FAQs

Why can't I find someone by username?

Double-check the spelling — usernames are case-insensitive but must be exact. If you still can't find them, their account may be private, deactivated, or they may have privacy settings that hide them from search.

I sent a request but they never accepted — what happened?

Pending requests stay until accepted or declined. The other person may not have seen it, or they may have their friend requests turned off in privacy settings.

Can I see who viewed my profile?

No — Roblox does not show who has viewed your profile.

My child received a friend request from a stranger — is that normal?

Yes, it's common. You can prevent this by setting their friend request privacy to Friends of Friends or No one in account settings.
